In The Media » Jonathan Bullock MEP - Abandon HS2 - UKIP sets the agenda again
JONATHAN Bullock MEP has reacted to reports the Conservatives are openly discussing the millions being spent on HS2.
Mr Bullock, MEP for the East Midlands, said yet again UKIP was setting the agenda. His party has long since opposed the HS2 vanity project.
In an article on Conservative Home, (see notes), it is reported Michael Gove MP asked fellow MPs, 'How would you feel if we just dropped HS2 and spent the money on local transport links in the Midlands and the north?'
Mr Bullock said: "The penny is beginning to drop.
"UKIP has long since opposed HS2 and strongly urged the Government to spend money on improving our rail links.
"HS2 is flawed, it is a waste of money - particularly when the Government is trying to free up funds - and it is a pure vanity project.
"Let us hope the reported comments from Mr Gove is the start of the process to stop this madness and improve our rail and transport networks in much more useful and sensible ways."
